Yesterday, we saw
Steve Knight's Nifty Puppets at the Sanford Library. It was a lot of fun. After the show, Caleb got to meet Steve who suggested checking some books out of the library on puppet making. Caleb had been disappointed that there was no craft to make as there usually is when we go to story time, but the thought of making his own puppets appeased him. I tried to tell him that I knew how to make puppets, but he insisted that I didn't and that he needed some books. So we found a librarian who helped Caleb find a few books on puppets. He spent most of the afternoon deciding what sort of puppets he wanted to make and trying to make some. I had been planning to teach a homeschool class on puppets in July but decided to move it up to this month since Caleb was so into his puppet making. For the class, the kids will make their own puppet theaters out of a cereal box and some stick puppets.

Here is a link to the finished products.This morning Caleb decided to put on a puppet show for Eli, Blue Bear, and Eli's baby. We set up a green curtain, and he used his Sesame Street puppets. At first, Eli was excited to watch the show but soon lost interest. He decided it would be more fun to try to find Caleb behind the curtain.
